**Psalm 51:17 **
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
This verse from Psalm 51 reflects on the posture of brokenness before God. It acknowledges that God values a humble and contrite heart more than external sacrifices. It recognizes that when we come before God with a broken spirit, acknowledging our own weaknesses, failures, and need for His mercy and grace, He does not reject us. Instead, God responds with compassion and acceptance.
This verse reminds us that brokenness can lead us to seek God’s forgiveness and restoration. It encourages us to approach God with humility, acknowledging our brokenness and surrendering ourselves to Him. When we come before Him in genuine repentance and vulnerability, He is faithful to receive us and bring healing and restoration to our lives.
In our brokenness, we can find comfort and hope in knowing that God’s love and mercy are available to us. He is near to the brokenhearted and desires to mend our brokenness, transforming it into something beautiful for His glory.
