“And having been set free from sin, you have become slaves of righteousness.” Romans 6:18
It reminds us that through our faith in Him, we are no longer bound by the power of sin. We have been set free from its control and have become servants of righteousness.
Before coming to Christ, we were slaves to our sinful nature, unable to break free from its grip. But through the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross, we have been liberated. We have been given a new identity as children of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
Romans 6:18 encourages us to embrace this freedom and to live in accordance with the righteousness that comes through Christ. It reminds us that we have a choice to make – to continue living in sin or to embrace our new identity in Christ and live in obedience to Him.
As slaves of righteousness, we are called to pursue a life that reflects the character and values of God. It means allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us, transforming our hearts and minds, and enabling us to live a life that is pleasing to God.
This verse serves as a reminder of the abundant life we have in Christ. It reminds us that we are no longer slaves to sin but have been set free to live a life of righteousness and obedience. It is an invitation to walk in the freedom and victory that Christ has secured for us.
Inspire us to embrace your identity as a servant of righteousness and to live a life that honors God. May it encourage you to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to resist sin and pursue a life that is in line with God’s will. May you experience the freedom and joy that comes from living in obedience to Him.
