I was very disillusioned recently to read about the pastor from Kansas City who demanded that his congregation buy him an expensive luxury watch. He went on to berate his members by accusing that rather than spend their money on him they were more inclined to go out to dinner with their families, or purchase clothing for themselves. I guess my question is two-fold, 1) Does a congregation have a responsibility to go above and beyond to provide for their pastor? And 2) What is the appropriate response of the church elders/deacons to provide counsel for the pastor? Discuss!
